Hi all I finally decided that this summer i wasnt going to wake up with the slugs and buy a DD.

Im thinking of the Camping Hammock as i dont see any real need for the net in my area (and the extra £25)
As the title says does anyone know if this hammock is breathable like the frontline version?

Also i was in newcastle centre today after an interview and went for a little shop and found a couple great bargains to show you all.

£1.19 each Marifix Carbine hooks bought at Clas Ohloson
£0.70 a metre 4mm Static cord 350kg breaking strength (i bought 10m) bought at cotswold

Do you all think this will suffice for lightweight suspension system for the Hammock?

Thanks all

btw knife is a spyderco UKPK (my everyday carry) brilliant thing

The argos card is there for scale purposes

Yes mate its breathable, The Travel Hammock is there only Waterproof one

cheers for the info i just came across this passage from the dd website

"Are the hammocks waterproof?

None of our hammocks offer protection from heavy rain – we've looked into making a fully waterproof hammock in the past and for various reasons think this would not work well. Using a tarp above your hammock allows you to see whats going on around you from your hammock (which is one of the big advantages to hammock camping rather than being trapped inside an enclosed tent in our opinion) plus a tarp gives you dry space living / storage / cooking space around your hammock. Our Frontline, Camping and Scout Hammocks will offer a limited amount of protection in light rain if you cocoon yourself between the hammocks (we don't recommend doing this in the Travel Hammock as the base is waterproof for optional use on wet ground and hence not very breathable). "

Does anybody have an opinion of the hook brand? will take my 70kg weight yeah?

You don't need karabiners but, if you are going to use them, get a pair of proper climbing ones.

Buy a climbing rated "QuickDraw" - gives you 2 carabiners and although they're not screw gate, they're plenty strong enough. Generally cheaper than buying 2 separate carabiners

Outside have some Wild Country Wildwire quickdraws for £10 (looks like free postage). V12 Outdoor has some DMM Prowire krabs (cosmetic seconds) for £3.50

I'm probably going to go for the Tenth Wonder Extra Wide Hornet, unless someone can convince me to spend more on a DD
