Yeah, me too, too often you are getting the book for the pictures and the pictures are just grey smudges.

Given that a lot of these old volumes are prized for their illustrations....

I'd be interested to know the quality of the reproduction in the 2018 publication if anyone has a copy please. I've been disappointed in the quality of 'scanned' old books in the past; hence my question.

I was really lucky as I only paid a fiver for it, I see they are asking £70.00 plus on Amazon for the same book.

Concur with the quality of some "reprints" these days, seriously poor quality and little more than toilet paper .

Been hankering to have a go at one of these for ages, but A) didn't have any suitable wood B) quite simply i wasn't fit enough, however today was that day.

The spoon is based upon a drawing in Bernard S Masons book "Woodcraft & Camping" and was inspired by illustration B, spoon has been carved from Sycamore.

Reminds me of a Chinese soup spoon.
