Following on from another thread in the camp and carry section I went ahead and bought the Ikea shear curtains in question. http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74178

After a bit of messing about I went from these ideas -

- to the sewing machine and came up with this

There are 4 tabs on each of the long sides for use with shock cord so that the sides stay flush with the hammock as I still wanted the option of using my diy cocoon like underquilt with the net. There are 2 centre tabs for connecting to the head and foot of the hammock and 2 tabs for each of the small spreader bars also attached with shock cord

I'm quite pleased with it but I don't know how robust the material will be in the long run but if it works I'll invest in specific midge netting from elsewhere. It's currently set up in the garden in the quite strong wind and i'll see how the net stands up to the stress points where i've stitched.

Thanks for looking.

Nice work there, I modified a net myself a while ago too, I got hold of a http://http://www.busyoutdoors.com/...um=comparison_shopping_feeds&utm_nooverride=1highlander net which is impregnated with permethrin, supposedly the permethrin keeps bugs away however when I used it the Mosquitos were just gathering on the net and waiting for me to come out! so I won't in future bother paying extra for treated stuff. one idea I did have when making mine that you may want to adopt is, my net was supposed to hand in a wedge shape and had a loop to hand it from and loops all the way round the base to peg it down (great for ground sleepers I think) however I didn't like the way it hung all around my legs due to the wedge shape so I modified it by making another loop so I can hang it in the same way as yours, I had an idea though and ran a length of paracord on the inside from loop to loop creating an internal ridge line similar to the ones in the hennessey hammocks, great for hanging your knife, torch and any other bits up at night, may be worth a look at adding this to your setup. Again excellent work on the mod.
