Not so sure about that one. But off the back of looking at that suggestion I think I've found the correct one.
The White Satin moth. And what clinches it is that we though the white blotches looked like hearts and that is one of the descriptors for The White Satin larvae.
Living with the trees so close we get a tremendous variety of moths. I admit I am not fond of them.
Even had one of the hummingbird hawkmoths in the garden one year. So big it looked like a bird.
I've been trapping moths with a home-made light trap for the past week or so and have recorded well over thirty species - ignoring all the micro-moths They are fascinating and hugely varied.
I've been meaning to make a moth trap for ages and finally got around to it this weekend. Initial results have been very encouraging with fifteen species caught and identified (and safely released I hasten to add :)). My favourite so far has to be the Small Magpie :)
