As for my prefered outdoor activities - I like canoeing and hiking. And I just generally like being outside with friends. And sleeping outdoors without a tent - the less I have to carry the better!

Like you, in the past couple of years have come to really appreciate being tent-free on some camps; just bedding with a tarp at the ready for the inevitable rain is very liberating.
