I want a new sheath or two made but i dont know who to get into contact with. I would like to use someone in the UK if possible because i dont want to deal with customs etc, but if i cant find someone then i guess the US will be ok. I would like a sheath for my Fallkniven F1, and probably one for my Chris Reeve Shadow 3 too, made of Cordura type material and quite low-riding. I have seen a couple like the Blackhawk ADKS but i cant find one for a 4" knife so i guess it will have to be custom. Does anyone know of a UK based maker? Or can anyobdy point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Yup, I've had axe masks and a laplander sheath from Rapidboy and all manner of lovely things from Singteck - his leather work is absolutely breathtaking. Your post reads like you want cordura though - not sure if wither of them work in that stuff.

Thanks for the pointers, i like the look of some of their work. I am really after something nylon though, but i could be swayed by leather!

I haven't seen anyone on here make a nylon sheath of any kind, let alone seen anyone who you could say specialize in them.

You may have more luck over on www.britishblades.com. There is a sheath making section there, and a lot more knife folks. The market you are looking at is more "tactical" than "bushcraft", the latter tends to be more traditional and favour leather. There are some makers around who can do Kydex, but the nylon might be tricky. Dunno.

The other option is going to a US forum such as www.bladeforums.com or www.knifenetwork.com, for instance, and find a maker on there. They definitely go in for the tactical stuff and you will probably find mention of companies that do kydex/cordura custom work. It won't be cheap though, but the £ - $ rate won't hurt.

Hey bud,

there are a couple of sheath tutorials on this site. I know they are predominantly leather, but you could pick up some Cordura fron the Bay of Evil (ebay) reasonably cheap.

I recently got some 1000 denier cordura in Marpat, some in Coyote Tan and Some 750 denier in Olive. I've made a nice wallet style pouch for my folding saw (awww) and i based some of the process on the tutorials and top tips on this site.

I'd recommend some 1000 denier as it is robust with a capital 'R' so much so that they make the pouches out of it that go on military assault vests.(same material as i have on the side panels of my Danner Acadia's). It costs next to nothing and there are various colours around. If your concerned about the stitching, you could always try fitting a sheath liner.

As for being new, i only joined last month and i've got to say, these guys on this forum are not only bend-over-backwards helpful, they are funny as well. Not only that, you have got something in common with everyone on this site................we were all new once. Not even Ray Mears was born with a Spoon Knife in his hand (should that be in his mouth?)

Remember, for Cordura, look on a 'worldwide' search, much of it seems to come from the colonies (no offence!). ;)
