Hultafors HD Knife make over

forgot about this little project! made a sheath for it today. still waiting for it to dry out after wet forming.
nothing fancy for the handle, just an off cut of hickory though wish now id used something a little more flash.

Might be a 'simple' wood, but together with your workmanship it looks fabulous!

I like to use simple birch I sustainably harvest in the Lofoten Islands.

It has a stick tang/ rattail. Glued.

In Sweden we like stick tangs by tradition.

thanks yes its a stick tang and the handle is one piece. the wood has a natural two tone colour

Did you polish away the brand name on the blade? If yes, was it easy?

Mora imprints it deeply, impossible to remove. I think Hultafors has it etched in?

not intentionally but it did come away with light sanding when re finishing the blade, so no isnt etched very deep

Brilliant job! But it looks too good to use now - I don't mind beating on my standard Hultafors knife.

I do like a good slab of plastic not hultafors mind, there pretty thugly, but that is much nicer, first rate work as always!
