I've not done an F1, but I took a similar handle off a Buck Vanguard today with another knife I just shaved it down until I exposed the back of the tang and peeled the rest of the plastic/rubber handle away to leave the tang bare.
At least with the F1 you won't have the job of working out how to remove the brass butt cap like I'm going to have to do.
dont worry mates, i do know a little of chemistry and physics. I tried to light it at the end of the handle and the chips that is scraped of with a other knife.
I for one would appreciate a photo of the knife without the thermorun handle so I know what the tang is like on one of these. I have an F1 that might well come in for the same treatment as I find the handle is a little too small for my big mitts.
You'll have to show us what the knife looks like once you've successfully re-handled it mate.
Hi Hanzo. My guess is that Penvisser either got his F1 second hand (and therefore a lot cheaper than buying a new blade blank) or has had it some time and now fancies a different handle on it.
The F1 I have was given to me as part payment for a fairly complicated re-handling job I did on another knife for a guy I know.
I have put a handle on a F1 blank already, posted a pic a few months ago in the gallery, but now I have sucessfully removed the thermorun handle of a WM type.
Will post a pic tonight how it looks like.
Because the handle is now smaller it will be a scandi construction.
The original handle of a WM Fallkniven is too small to fit my hands.
