I dont mind losing a DPM jacket , that can possibly be written off

Knife , compass, map case , waterproof notebook, gas lighter , etc etc etc

Hopefully a mate will have picked it up thinking it was his

<doh>

you'll probably be able to buy your kit back next week from your local surplus shop! :-?

during my time in the TA (royal anglian regt), we were offered kit at very low prices, a kevlar helmet for £10 in 1991!

if you have a look round any surplus shop you will see evidence of alot of pilfering!

make sure you name and number everything, !!!!!! :-(

Im not from any sort of millitary background but dont they call `em Camp Rats :nono:

No, it depends on where you are from (regiments from different areas have different slang for different things). Tabs and Fags for instance.

If you were from a London based regiment they would probably be "Tea Leafs".

Generally they are known as "thieving b*****ds". :-D

Your not stupid mate it happens to us all at some time. In my case I got back from my snipers course, cleaned my kit and hung it in the drying room, when I came back in 4hours a good part of it was gone :oops: . The best thing about this was I was in secure lines and you needed the combination to get into them. So that kind of limits the choice of who it was.

Never could prove anything and never got the kit back. :evil:

Its not the first time ! So far in my highly (un)decorated career I've "lost" a dpm goretex jacket and a dpm parka

Both named, oh and a nato pattern sheaf knife :evil:

Hopefully someone picked it up in error , there was only 5 people there, and all my kit in it had my name on it so if someone does keep it ......... :!:

on excersise the instructors told us about mysterious "bungee trees" :wink: a tree some squadi was camped under and bugged out so fast he left the bungees or para cord hanging! :lol:

we were also told that in a desolate FIBUA house some guy found abandonned, a full set of webbing and an SLR rifle, resting on it, boy would his ears be ringing back at base! :-?

also a story of how a nice old lady that frequenly dog walked through an MOD area found a LMG (light machine gun) took it home, stored it for years, polished it every 6 months, a son or daughter thankfully informed the police who found it to be...loaded, cocked, with the safety catch off! :yikes:
