Ok, a simple challenge: how many species came past here, and a very difficult challenge: what were they.

Scorpion is closest...I make it five critters: me, camel, scarab beetle, desert fox (fennec) and a desert gerbil...we had to chase one away from us before we went to bed and then when we woke up in the morning, there were gerbil prints all around the bedrolls...here's a different view of the same place:
