I was wondering if anyone had a good recipe for Honey fungus.
I’ve simply fried them fresh before and though they were good I found them a bit slimy! :o

Best used sparingly in stews. Fairly strong tasting and as with many "edible" fungi, over indulgence can lead to rapid effluent discharge

I haven't tried honey fungus yet but a similar shroom, armillaria tabescens, was delicious the other night, well cooked in a good splash of oil and added to a sausage and tomato casserole. Some people say it's bitter, I didin't find it so, but all the references to it and honey fungus say these shrooms need to be cooked before eating. A tabescens has no ring and is a bit moe chestnut coloured than honey fungus.
