Hobo stove ?

  • Come along to the amazing Summer Moot (21st July - 2nd August), a festival of bushcrafting and camping in a beautiful woodland PLEASE CLICK HERE for more information.
Purely by being a round cutlery drainer I find mine awkward to pack, so usually carry a cheap folding square stove that has the benefit of holding my trangia style burner. I do use it for wood during the summer when I find dry pine cones.

Otherwise the Kelly kettle gets used year round

Yep.
My old cutlery drainer does the job very well. It nests perfectly inside my zebra billy (12cm?) with room inside for an alcohol burner (pop can) and tinder bits.

As a 1 person set up, I've been using it for years, it works very well for me. I'll adapt it one day to improve the burn, maybe.
An old ss bicycle spoke poked through the holes supports my Crusader mug.
They're that sturdy I've used it with a Dutch oven too!

Pulled out of someone's recycling bin it was my favourite price.

I am too poor to buy such a thing and too weak to carry it with pleasure.

I am able to bind a tripod though or set two sticks or three stones under the pot.
