I'm thinking of spending a week in the west highlands this autumn, possibly the end of September or early October. Will the midge season be over by then?

The midges are less of a problem in September but it depends a bit on the weather. October would probably be a safer bet from what I have experienced.

The midge impact will be substantially lessened by that time and if there is any breeze at all :)rolleyes:) you won't have any problems with the wee devils.
