Not quite my first post but I've only just seen this thread. Great site, I've been lurking about for a few months and decided to join up - you never know, one day i may give out a priceless nugget of advice i didn't know I had in me!
Have been tent camping since time began although job / kids are using up my spare time (oh I can't wait until they're old enough to take with me). Bought my first hammock and tarp a few months ago....WHY didn't someone tell me how comfotable these things were years ago?
No tent = No 70L rucksack to carry.
Tarp = 45L rucksack and a much more pleasant walk.
Also just finished making my own knife (Ray M has enough money so I didn't think £600 on ebay was justifiable!)
Lucky enough to live in Windermere and would be great to get a few likeminded folk together for a night or two in the woods. I can find 1000's of places to wild camp in a tent but not so much luck yet for finding decent woods (lower down in valleys, too many people knocking about) as i prefer my camp to be out of sight and once i leave no one should know I've been there. Would appreciate some suggestions about ideal locations.
Anyhow, I was only going to say Hi but i appear to have rembled on a bit, sorry.:sad6:
