Hi all, I don't think I have ever been part of this forum, but I remember discovering it around 2010, while living in Belgium and having interest about bushcraft and life in the nature. That's when I came across the beautiful TP knives, and Toby's website ( he was still living in France), I remember you could pick different knives with different woods and a leather sheath, all were extremely beautiful to me, I loved the smooth shapes of them and I dreamt of owning 'Le Voyageur', but I couldn't afford it. Throughout the years I came back to check on these knives and seen he had repatriated to England, but now no trace of his website! So now that I could afford this knife, I have come on the trail :) That was my story, so I am not in the UK, (I'm in France) , and have just come for the knives ! It seems my account is restricted for now, and since I don't intend to post much, this might never change and I would't have the privilege of contacting Toby. So does anyone know where to buy the knives? Does he still produce them? Best wishes to everyone

Welcome to the forum.

I met Toby at The Bushcraft Show last May. He had a stand selling knives and we chatted for a while. I bet I have a card for him someplace.

I am surprised that you say you cannot trace him. Now, granted, what I found might be dead links...and he might have stopped making in the last year, but given what he said about investment in equipment that seems unlikely. Since you don't mention them I am assuming you didn't find any of this.

  1. Just typing "Toby TP Knives" into Google.
  2. The very first thing that popped up was his Facebook page....and even though I do not have a face book account, I could see enough.
  3. The next Google result was a thread from this forum, reminding me that his full name is Toby Platts.
  4. I then put "Toby Platts TP knives" into Google, and a few results further down got his carpentry site, complete with a phone number and email address.
  5. The logo for his carpentry business is the same as his knife business, shown on his Facebook page.

Hi,
Haha, I'm feeling a mixture of joy and shame now...
Thanks a bunch, I am not so old and know how to use Internet, but sometimes I forget there's this thing called 'Google'... I even had been searching on the Internet's archive for his defunct website... And hadn't googled it! (I use other search engines)
I guess I am sorted then, thanks again
