I caught this shot this morning - the first time I have seen a Heron catch an Eel - it put up quite a fight!

good shots-- I like especially the first one.
on Saturday I saw a heron with a snake whilst on a bikeride but it was out of range for my pocket camera..... maybe another time I'm more lucky-- plenty of both animals in the rice paddies!

Excellent Wild Highlands series on Wed eves - great sequence of heron catching a LARGE trout.
On the River Leven Cut they feed a lot on insects & frogs.

Killing machines!.. seen em decimate a pond full of koi carp. and the pond had been netted.. still didn't stop em.
I found a heron fishing in my little 4ft square pond this morning made me belly laugh
I have also seen them catch an eel before did you watch after that you can see the eel wriggling in their throats on the way down quite a crazy view
