Some nine years or so ago I did a woodlore course where we made some
fish hooks out of Hemlock roots. I thought I would Google it and see what came up but no one seems to have ever heard of them, that cant be right so I ran for the woods (Hamsterly Forest ) and knoked up a couple. Take a look and what do you all think.
In fact what else can be made out of these roots, any ideas ??
Also are they just ornamental or has anyone ever used one for real.

ps, not sure how to stick the photo on, be patient.

Do you mean using the Hemlock roots as a binding like in the image below?

Hemlock roots make very good bindings for pretty much anything really, just join them together to your desired length.

Spruce roots are also very good, thicker roots can be split down and de-barked to make them more flexible.

Thank you, yes I mean the root is for the binding and a branch for the rest of it.
your pictures are exactly like the ones I just made.

Hemlock foliage once crushed give a scent very like poison Hemlock which
is the origin of the common name of Hemlock other than that there is no relation to
the deadly carrot type plant. If my memory serves me well.
