Hi there,

My 12 year old son has always had a keen interest in wild camping, but having looked at the rules, it feels a little restrictive in England and Wales.

I want to take him camping in a forest somewhere, as isolated as possible, and be able to spend the night undisturbed whilst being able to cook dinner on a gas camping stove.

Do I have to go to Scotland where the rules are a little more forgiving? Or is there somewhere that would allow this in England or Wales? I'm looking to do it in the woods, out of view, rather than on hills or dales.

We're in Birmingham, but I am willing to travel.

I am willing to pay, if necessary, but every paid place I have seen tends to be what I consider 'glamping'.

Any advice welcome. Thanks.
