Some time ago I posted a recommendation for a Sheffield knife maker; its with much regret I have to report bad service from that company. Ive had a Taylors Eye Witness pocket folder since the 1960s and have been very pleased with it, never let me down, but now its a bit worn and Id been thinking of replacing it for some time. I was overjoyed to discover they are still making the same model and, finally, I got round to ordering a replacement.
When it arrived I was somewhat disappointed; although the new knife is serviceable the finish is appalling, very different from the one I bought in the sixties. The grinding on the back of the mechanism isnt square and the scales have been crudely finished with corners rather than a smooth curve, file marks have not been polished out. What I am really saddened by is my repeated complaint has not been responded to, not even an acknowledgement let alone anyone saying sorry. I blame the management a) for poor quality control b) trading on past reputation and c) bad customer service.
I wont be dealing with this company again and can no longer recommend their products.
