He's on ITV in a few minutes - something about the Eden project, not bushcraft as far as
I know.

What's wrong with your Sky box Ogri? I was thinking about you this morning actually! -
it occurred to me that I'd not seen you here in a while. All well I hope? How's your plan
B coming along.

Hey Jodie,
It's yet another case of the type of technology that I'm comfortable using - but not fully sure of how it works!
We bought the system some years ago as the terestrial reception in our area was dire. We don't subscribe to any packages, as all we wanted was an improved picture and the ability to use teletext etc. So our dish was aweinspiring for some time after installation even with the free channels we hadn't bargained on. Then a few years ago, a nearby electrical transformer box took a lightening strike which blew up lots of stuff in the house while we were away, motherboard of the PC, telephones and - because it was plugged into the phone socket - the sky box. It was replaced under warranty with a slightly different model which again worked OK up until a few weeks ago. Since then, I've gradually been loosing channels - first the BBC1 and BBC2 Wales, then slowly most of our "favourite" channels have dissapeared - to be replaced with a screen message saying "There is no satelite signal being recieved". What is most annoying is that I can get other regions BBC1 channels, just not ours.
I've tried most of the standard tweaks of switching off and on, fiddling with the phone connection etc, and I can get so far with the system check, but it does not recognise any code number that I've got. Theres only one engineer in the area who is maxed out with upgrades on the run up the Christmas - so it looks like we're stuck for a while.

As to what else has been happening, I've been around quite a bit, we've probably just not been looking up at the right moment!
Plan "B" is still on the cards but is becoming ever more difficult to maintain momentum. I know I have been neglecting my blog for a while but I got quite "down" with things a month or so ago and had to take some drastic steps to find my way back to the path!

Anyway - all is now as good as I can expect.

Have you checked the coax connection into your dish, these have a tendancy to work loose overtime especially in strong winds and heavy rain. I had two replacement receiver boxes before i managed to get hold of some ladders and check the dish out.

There is also something you can do in the Services menu which can resolve "no signal being received" but I can`t remember the procedure it right now, I`ll have a look when I get home this aft. There`s an option you can go into which doesn`t even appear on the screen.

Found a link to the above procedure Ogri

Hope it helps

Well I'm glad you're OK Ogri even if you are having a technical systems failure problem.

I have only Freeview and I learned all that I needed to know from the Radio and Telly
forum (I think it is actually called that), and Wikipedia of course :-)

I'm now convinced that the answers to all technical problems can be found on the internet!

I've seen that Evenk one before, but the one on Dave had some extra bits such as the berry gathering, the knot tying and the birch bark container making. Why can't the damned Bloody Bodge-up Company release the definitive version on DVD!

Ah yes, I see you joined in March!
Biding your time I expect - best not to rush these things :)

If you want a proper welcome I recommend posting something about yourself in the
Introductions & Welcomes section and then we can all say hello properly.
