i know I'm not the only person who wishes this, but If only you could select the red in isolation to preserve your night vision these would IMO be perfect & before someone suggests it, no, using it back to front for that function is'nt an option for me.
Another thing for you to consider is a head strap for a torch, though having the light from the side doesn't quite feel right to me and with it far enough back to avoid distracting pheripheral glare I get bad shadowing on the other side of me.
