Hi
The wife in the past has used an old wives tale cure for our daughters hair and she has even used it herself . First she coats our daughters hair with a thick layer of mayonnaise (any brand) which is left on her head for an hour or two ,washed, combed, and then treated with tea tree oil. It works everytime. The mayonnaise has oil in it which im told kills the lice , part of the tale is headlice only live on clean hair and not oily greasy hair ,who knows? It has certainly worked for her.
Regards
Darren

Tea tree oil and Everclear or the highest proof Vodka you can find. Soak the hair to the scalp and let it dry. Repeat every three to six days; not longer than 7 days between treatments and no less than 3 treatments.

Remember to avoid possible sources of ignition and keep a shot of Vodka for yourself (to drink) for the stress.

This worked on my daughter's waist long hair four different times.

Hi,

I work in a special school (behavioural!) and some of our kids are minging! I use tea tree oil shower gel every day and have never had a problem with head lice. It does "tingle" when you first start to use it though so might be a bit harsh for little people!

When our kids have caught them we wash their hair as normal then apply a good coating of cheap conditioner and start to comb and check, comb and check. If you find one of the little blighters dip the comb in a jug of scalding water straight away and wash it off the comb. Do this every day for at least 2 weeks and you should be free of pets! Not a quick solution but SWMBO swears by it!

It makes me angry that schools can no longer send the smelly horrors that are infested with lice to the dreaded nit nurse. They cannot be singled out, it may make them feel bad. They can be sent home with a note telling the parents not to send their kids back to school until they have the nits problem sorted, but they can't be checked so the only way this will happen is when either the kid is scratching itself to death or the child is so infested that the nits are ganging up and knicking everybodys sarnies!

Any child that you have a concern about - failure to thrive, health issues etc - we are duty bound to send them to the nurse/pastoral.
