I just thought it might be worth asking everyone to spare a thought for our wildlife in this weather. This is exactly the type of weather that kills so many of our birds and small mammals. Snow and ice hides the few bits of food left and frozen water is not drinkable. Maybe we could all leave out a few scraps and a bit of water every morning while the hard weather remains, so that we have some company in the woods come the spring? After all, they make up part of what we all enjoy.

On the flip side of course, it's also a hard winter for vermin. Wonder what the tick and midge levels will be like next summer?
