Handdrill Punkwood Ember extender

Built a skinny handdrill using materials gathered on the spot to
demonstrate using punkwood as a coal extender.
This is great method of building up a tiny ember and creating a large one.
a storm was bearing down on me at the time so things got a bit hectic...enjoy...woods

Punkwood makes a fantastic coal extender and can actually burst into flames on it's own right.

I also make an hour glass shaped v-notch. Mullein works so well for a spindle. Going to do a Mullein and Yucca hand drill this week.

awesome! let us know how that works out for ya...iv'e found that too much downward pressure into the yucca with the much harder mullein causes the spindle to burn through too quickly but a bit lighter pressure works well...woods
