Hi

I'm sure someone with a hammock must have had a similar search before. I'm looking for a small glow light that I can hang for when I'm in my hammock.

I don't want nothing too powerful or with a beam just an omnidirectional glow (red) to save my night vision and as to not attrack too much attention when stealth camping.

So far the best I've found is something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/6095-Nebo-K...8&qid=1453512927&sr=8-3&keywords=red+led+lumo

But obviously the light is not in red.

I an find loads of things like this, but they don't seem as though they are going to last very long packed in my Bergan:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Outdoor-Key...244&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=red+keychaibn+light

Any suggestions?

My Nitecore HC90 has a red LED, which is ideal for night-vision saving.

Not a cheap option, I know, but I'm not inclined to skimp on a headlight, as it might save me from breaking my fool neck one night, or disappearing into a bog. As it's infinitely variable in white light mode, it also makes a good camp lantern.

I'm not sure how much light you need, but If you don't need light to read by, Id recommend this light:

The semitransparent light diffuser thingy is made from a soft plastic, in differerent shapes.
They come in different colour LEDs, and the plastic housing can be different colours too.
I've got several different ones, clipped to my jackets so I don't get run over when walking on dark roads. They actually give off enough light to walk by in total darkness, at least in snow.
Couldn't tell you how to change batteries, as they haven't run out yet, but otherwise, buy two lights instead!

Think in the short term I'm going to go with the dog glow globe as we need a thing for the dog anyway.

Once I've been to some meetups I'm sure I'm going to bump into most of the other options listed above and can see what I like best.

Thanks again all.

I dunno... I've not changed one yet :)

Having said that I've used one probably about 10 hours or so in total mainly in flash mode when I walk my dogs in the woods at night

Cheers I'll order one to have a play with. Want something to go on my pack for road walking at night.
