I've been wanting to have a go at making an axe for a while but punching and drifting the eye was my biggest problem.

So I decided to try one from a 2lb ball pein.

Not to shabby for a first attempt if I do say so my self. It needs more work but nearly there

Looks good bud. I started one of them years ago. Lots of work involved so well done indeed. Do post pics once you've got it finished. :) All the best Andy

Cracking job, you can see already that it will end up a very nice looking piece of kit. Using it will be all the more satisfying knowing that you created it.

if you have any more trouble with the eye, get a die grinder for a drill, it'll clean it up and widen with no issues.

Got a picture of the head post forging? must have been pretty big..!

Cheers samon I'll give that a try. No pics sorry but it wasn't a big hammer just a generic old ball pein
