Half Wood Sheath

Made a new sheath for an old knife. I'm getting not bad at these now, but I still can't make a "normal" sheath, LOL! These sheaths are entirely made from scrap which is what I'm most pleased with. I might even make my next one with "real" wood. Ta for looking.

Thanks very much gents. GA, I do fancy trying antler but I'm a bit wary of the dust, and I don't know where to get the right piece of antler.

Hi Caliban you are probably right should wear a mask, here is a link to a BB thread on the use of Horn in Knives and sheaths which goes into what to look for.

You can sometimes find some nice bits of horn from UK deer at stick making stores at Game Fairs they have them in a big box and you can hunt through.

LOL! I was just on your blog right now, superb mate! I left a comment, but I didn't know you had posted this nice reply before I did. As well as your obvious talent, it's a lovely green place of refuge for urban overloaded eyes.

Those are a couple of nice sheaths I like them a lot.

You can use a lot of combos like buffalo horn and antler with wood. You should wear a mask when sanding wood as they are as dangerous as bone and antler.
