Got wood!

Bushcrafter (boy, I've got a lot to say!)
I have got some decent size bits of wood from a tree felling company that were working in my village. Not sure what wood it it's I forgot to ask. Next time I see the owners of the trees I will all them.
Now I'm not sure if I should just plough in and have a got at carving spoons, bowls and sawdust. Or should I leave the wood to season first. I'm pretty duff at carving so I really don't think anything I make will be worth keeping so I ask myself is out worth seasoning the wood?

Some nice bits of wood there.

The bark looks suspiciously like lime and if it is you've a great wood to start carving with even if it's seasoned. If you want to try and season it then I'd suggest you paint the ends so they don't dry out too fast and you've less chance of shakes developing.

I have some lime of similar size that I am seasoning to do some carving,

Question is, how long should I leave them - they are in my shed

TIA

Alex
