Giant hogweed

Just walked along the river Wear while my daughter is rowing there. I didn't believe my eyes seeing these plants all along the river bank. Here's a photo!!

I drive by this rather attractive plant every day on my commute, I am fairly sure it is the giant hogweed, at the moment I recon it is 8-10 feet and the stem must be 4 inch at the lower section you can see.
