I wanted to give the thumbs up to these extreme cold weather mittens. I have had a previous pair but Endicotts are selling these un-issued.
They are thick leather palms, thick cotton outer and a MVP membrane sandwiched between a pile lining. They have metal fastenings and elastic retainers (so you would not lose them when you have taken them off.
I bought a larger size so I can fit a liner glove (or in this case some thicker wool gloves) and would do me for some seriously cold temperatures. Ideal for that Arctic trip coming up.
At £12.95 (new) they represent pretty serious value for the robust quality you are getting and I would highly recommend them.
The link below is for the used versions and are of a slightly different, less fitted design. These ones however are surplus new. I would also add that there is a MK1 and a MK2 version. The MK2 (early 90s) have an elastic stitiching around the finger end of the gloves to improve fit plus they have the elastic retainers for when you take the gloves off. These are the ones I purchased.

I'll get some photos up shortly do do them better justice.
