Gathering tinder

I was gathering tinder the other day and I realized that I've read about identifying tinder, but not so much about how others gather it/what they gather it in. For example, I was using a gallon sized freezer bag and wore leather gloves because I was gathering the cottony fluff of thistles. I used the plastic bag to keep it dry and to protect me from the sharp bits. I avoid holding the tinder for too long or putting it in my pockets without some sort of waterproof bag because my sweat tends to dampen the materials. The plastic bag works well, but I'd rather have something a little more natural and durable.

What do you guys use? What are your methods for gathering tinder?

on the heather
Airgun pellet tin stuffed full of bog cotton, birch paper, 2 pine knots 1 small cramp ball my new flint and some amadou (cheers Dwardo) a wet fire block and some char cloth.
.
If you want something more natural try and make a birch bark box, very easy it’s just rolled in to a tube, or a nice clamshell.
As for the bog cotton as with all plants everything is seasonal the bog cotton has finished flowering now so move with the times and on to reed mace, thistle down or dandelion seed heads just whatever you see.

Sunny Wales!
The plastic 'clickable' boxes from asda/tesco's ect. Fold down locks.

The one's that keep food airtight. One's about the size of a tobacco tin and lives in the rucksack permanently!
