Gaining permission to use land

I've got permission to use an area of about 4 acres of mixed woodland with a grassy area of about 1 acre size. I got permission as soon as I asked but I do know the landowner and occasionally do work on the trees for him.

On a side note - Did a quick search and couldn't see this posted elsewhere, can't claim to have tried the approach personally but seems like a good one.
