Went out to my woods to gather a bit of beech today. A touch to windy and cold out to do much else besides needed some wood for blanks lol this should do nicely. The piece towards the back is the kuksa wood Is roughly about 4 feet long

Oh and to answer your question Dancan I will be pretty much using this right away so no worries about having to paint the ends.

Your getting there BB.
I carved another one myself yesterday from another piece of birch burl.
It has a shorter handle than the one I did a couple of days ago but came out all right.
Looking forward to seeing yours finished.

Looks like that kuksa could be carved to fit an army trangia. I like the sweep on the end of the handle.
Both coming along nicely.

Beech kuksa is just about close to being done and have to say this is my best one yet. Started it yesterday. So far I think I got maybe 3 or 4 hours into it. Tools pictured all I used and log it's sitting on is where it came from. She is roughly a touch over a half a cup haven't done a final measurement yet now the fun part time to sand
