Cheers Kev, that looks really useful...the maps are bang up to date too as I was just looking at my local area and it shows a housing estate that's still in the building stage.

There's another useful resource that's worth sharing that I just remembered. Ordnance Survey have downloadable maps available through their OS Open Data scheme http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/products/os-opendata.html which are free for non commercial uses. You can download blocks of maps in TIFF format, I've printed off a few small areas and laminated them for teaching my kids navigation and also for having a quick reference map for my local fishing areas.

Some of it is, some isn't - I've had a quick look at my village and it's showing pubs, police station and a church that closed 10-15 years ago!
