Maybe this could be stickied?

I'm making a Quaich, out of sycamore, and wondered what I could use to finish or seal the wood. Generally I would use beeswax and linseed oil, but those would obviously taint the liquid.

So, suggestions for foodsafe finishes, please.

food safe finishes is a big subject which has been covered many times lots of detail here http://greenwood-carving.blogspot.com/2009/12/what-is-best-oil-for-treating-wood.html
Is your quaich going to be used for whisky? if so I finish mine by dipping in hot beeswax. Oil finishes even when cured are dissolved by alcohol, beeswax is not. The faint hint of beeswax the first few times you use it does not in my experience adversely affect the pleasure of the drink.

I think Robin has answered that idea in his blog!

Thanks for the connection.

I recall reading on here of someone using superglue to seal a bowl. Anyone have experience of that?

beeswax I think I have, so might try it.
