Folding knife idea?

Probably been done before and I haven't looked this up yet but could a knife fold horizontally instead of the usual vertical slip joint method and be kept open by a strong magnet and still be a UK EDC?

It would fold, be under 3 inches and would no more lock than a really tight slip type joint? The magnet could be just strong enough but still allow closure without any secondary action?

Yep something that folds out like the CRKT but is held with a strong magnet?

Why would you want a magnet, that CRKT locks closed on a cam at the pivot point.
