This was my First hammock wild camping Experience in County Durham, I've always gone camping and after lurking on the forum decided to start doing it properly!
My friend had started offering wild camping at a wood up north so I took the opportunity to give it a go, and I was not disappointed, the scenery and peacefulness was amazing!
It was on the whole an exercise in getting my kit down to the level that I can rock up somewhere and camp out of my Maxpedition vulture (45lt ish) without having to fill the car like I would normally do if camping out of my car.
I failed drastically lol I knew I would but also realised for sure I'm dragging along a lot of gear I don't need, so hopefully next time Ill be a lot more streamline in the kit department.
I pitched the DD frontline hammock and 3X3 tarp in a very nice area tucked away down a little track, in a natural amphitheatre with a little brook running through it.
Pics below
The last pic is my mate Gary who has been running the wood, he's a friend from scho so I took the chance to catch up with him, I think the rocket stove will be ditched from my "camping rucksack" just to heavy but great to use with an iron skillet like we did.
Absolutely smashing time, only stayed one night but I'm sure to be doing something again soon!
