Well last week I had my first by-pass surgery. Back in November my cardiologist had scheduled me for a heart catheterization. I’d already gotten a stent I placed a few years ago. This time they said the damage was too much for a stent son they scheduled me for the CABG (Coraonary Artery Bypass Graft——pronounced “cabbage”) I put them off a couple of weeks while I made preparations (finding long term care for Barbara with her dementia, getting our daughter to take care of the dog I’m keeping and finding a new home for the other. Etc.) Several perperatory tests later and I went in for the surgery. Spent a week in coronary/neural ICU before transferring to rehab and I’ll be her another 10 days or so.
Everything went well but I wouldn’t recommend it if you can avoid it. My surgeon drew the bypasses on the heart pillow before he autographed it.
