First Mesolithic artefact found

Was out in the fields earlier looking for flint nodules to knapp and by pure chance saw this piece. I don't know a lot about these artefacts but I think it has been worked by a person and think it may have been an axe head??

Well, something's struck flakes off it. Flint's not my thing (it's rare around here), but it looks like a large core that's been plough hit a few times.

Might be an axe ? or has a finer shaped tip been broken off (see the photo with the pen cap to the right hand side)

Old Bones or Dave Budd might have a better idea

Interested to hear what others have to say about it
