Thought I'd share my first ever proper knife since I'm so chuffed with it:

Made straight from the bits that come with the nordic knife kit from Brisa.fi. - a cheap blade, bolster, spacer and a little round of antler. Total cost about £16.00 for the kit.

I've truncated the butt of the knife because it all way too big on the first go. No real pattern for the handle - it sort of just turned out that way - I just kept trying it in my hand until it felt right. Feels really strong, although the mechanical fit was a bit loose (a couple of strokes with a fine rasp and it went from immovable to sloppy - I guess that means my drilling was a bit 'wonky' on the inside but the epoxy seems to have done the trick. I much prefer the more substantial handle on this one to the handle on my carving knives.

Only things left to do are polish up that brass bolster a bit more to get rid of some nicks, sharpen and polish the blade, and rub a bit of oil into it.

This one is going to wing it's way to Aus for a Christmas present for my old dad. Time to make one for myself now!

Nice work.
I've got a Keurasando (spelling?) kit that I got for my birthday last year.
I will really need to sort my self out and get it started.
If it turns out anywhere near as good I will be very happy.
Again, nice one :)
