First Foot Coaster (from a bit string)

Got the rope maker into gear today and twiddled up a bit rope from jute string.

Then thought 'what will I do with the rope now'.

So with it being Hogmany I thought a teapot stand/coaster for a First foot present.

Where did you get your ropemaker and materials from?

The rope maker is from an antique shop in Montrose and I think it's a hay rope maker. I'm still after the metal geared one but it's been on my 'to find' list for about 30 years belief it or not!

The string is jute from a factory a few miles up the road and they are good enough to give me some of their seconds for the Scouts to make ropes with.

That rope is 3 pairs (6 strands) and I'm going to try 3 double pairs (12 strands) to see what happens. Well I know it'll be thicker but I don't want to try 3 pairs of the rope I just made (36 strands).

I'll need extra hands and arms to take pics but I'll see what I can do. I need to rope the wife in to help lay the rope anyway so I'll get her to take pics as well

Okay, but the video is pushing the boat out too far!!!!!

It takes me all my time with photos.

I found some tutorials on line. You can make small ropes by hand or with simply made hooks (and 5 people)
