I'm looking for a cheap fire striker/starter rod and wanted your opinions

What type are the best? Most long lasting, effective, easy to use etc.

you mean a ferrocerium rod?

There isn't much/any difference in most of them, I've had one of the 'better' ones and I can't tell the difference to a cheapo!

What he said, they all work so id get a cheap one. 8-9mm diameter will give a good life. beware the ones that have a tiny ferro bit embedded in a larger diameter rod.

I have a ultimate survival technology's strike force, its a cracking bit of kit.

It clips together inside each other so is easy to carry and has room for a couple of wet fire cubes in the handle.

Cheers
