The ozpig, does in deed look good. I saw that a seller on ebay who does the gas bottle stoves(i know there is a few),i think is in Cambridge, does them now with a top plate so you can cook on them.

Hey ,
I use one of these for family camps , it will warp after prolonged use but can be straightened by hand . As it folds flat it takes up no room in the car . I put a bit of mesh at the bottom of each side to prevent spillage .
Cheers , Trev
P.S. I am using it as a primarily as a firepit not a bbq .

It doesn't need to be anything fancy and it doesn't need to cost fifty quid. Not long ago I just bolted a couple of scrap wheel rims together, it took me less than 20 minutes and it worked a treat.

If you want a fire, as opposed to something to place cooking pots on, I'd have thought a flat sheet of metal on a couple of large, damp logs would give a better view of the fire. I very much like Cliff's arrangement, the circular thing in about the fifth picture down in this thread but it's a bit more up-market than my wheel rims. I'm going to make one one day. :)

Went in to a local garden centre yesterday, and they were selling off some fold flat bbq's for a fiver, not weighed it yet but they are light, with enough scope to reduce the size/weight, for backpacking.
