finish of knife after sharpening

Hi guys ive been sharpening my helle eggen and have managed to put
a fair few scratches into the side of the blade any idea how i gan get them out and recover
the shine?

All mine have those fine scratches on the sides - shows its not a drawer queen!

Having seen some photos of John in his tutu, theres nothing drawer (or closet) about him either ;)

I'd be inclined to leave them too. Helle blades seem more prone to scratches than many, probably because of their laminated construction.

Personally, I like scratches. They add character, kinda like the lines around my eyes.

If you really need them gone, you can work them out with fine sandpaper. Start with 400 grit then work up to 600, 800 and 1200, By then the metal will be so shiny you can signal airplanes with it.

Did that...once. Then I sharpened the knife again and....life was too short!

Bet I have more wrinkles too :)

As long as it's sharp,never mind about the rest of the blade.
Only worry if it's worth over c.£500,other than that it's a user:D

ive got the same knife.and they do scratch easily but they do stay sharp and get sharp easily,And mines scratched to death its my main knife and a user
