Found a fig tree while out today and its loaded with figs. Does any one know when is the right time to pick the fruits, i love figs but have never picked them before. The fruits are about 25 - 30mm and green at the moment if that helps.
I'm no expert but my friend in the south of france has trees in his gardens, when we were picking them they were not hard but a little soft to touch, maybe just coincednce though, but they were fine to eat.

The fruit takes 2 years to ripen and frost can cause problems which is why it's difficult to get good fruit off them here. The further south you go the better chance you have.
