What's your favorite wild food?
Mine is probably coming across a patch of mushrooms - I just don't think you can beat field mushroom! :-D Such a treat!
What's your favorite???

I'm quite partial to a bilberry/blaeberry or two! Aa good handful can be very refreshing on a hot day in the hills.

I used to come home laden with these as a youngster, stretched my poor mum's imagination with what to do with another bag of them :lol:

I love the delicate taste of wild garlic, and pine kernels - bring along some carnaroli rice and a little parmesan and you've got the makings of a risotto you'd pay big, big money for in a fancy restaurant!

Can't comment on the venison, nothing in my armoury is heavy enough or legal to take deer with. Never mind. I'll get round to trying it one day!

Ehh, guys’ just one short language thing.
Venison is just a piece of dead deer isn’t it?
Like veal is lamb meat? Or do you need to ‘process’ it in some way (other than killing and dressing the animal)?

Veal isn't lamb. it is the meat from a calf.

Yup, just the generic name for meat from a deer - same as beef is cow meat.

I had venison for dinner last night. Cooked long and slow in the oven with onions, loads of garlic, soy sauce and molasses. All cooked down until the meat is falling apart tender and coated in a thick garlicky sticky sauce. Along with a couple of homemade onion flatbreads and a salad :-D

I'm getting hungry again!

puffball is always a goodun, but loads better fried in bacon fat.
