Just pines will do.
Look for fallen pine trees, and look for the stump.
Remove some rotten wood from the stump.
You'll find some redcollord wood which looks glazy and smeells like turpentine.
You can use it even when it's wet.

Cheers theo. I took some out of a pine stump yesterday. I just took a small piece. But it's only marbled in darker red wood. That seems to be fat wood. I'm going to go back tomorrow and harvest some more, now I know what I'm after. I just didn't want to go making a mess unnessecarily. Again thanks theo

This pine was dug out of exposed peat and lit on the shore of a lochan. You'd be surprised at how old it can be and where you can find it.

I've heard the older the better. I've just been and had a look at a tiny piece I brought back. It was a massive tree and I've just snapped a hand sizes piece of root off. There's veins of it in there. I only had an opinel with me so couldn't gather more. Thanks alot for the advice fellas.
