Welcome to North Wood 2018

Here we go again into a fresh new year, our last meet in December was fairly cold and white! which prompted the question "any chance of an extended February meet"?
I think the hope was for a bit more of the same!

It was the perfect opportunity to dust off the cold weather kit, the laavu's, log burners, hot tents, test your clothing layers and the like. with all that extra gear to lug around a two night stay hardly warrants the effort so given enough support I am going to offer an extended meet in February giving a possible 7 nights! to not only test out and fine tune your cold weather gear, but to also make it worthwhile for those coming from further afield. However if the numbers aren't there, we will revert back to the original dates of 23rd~25th I will update this thread closer to the meet.

This meet will be held at the winter site at the top of the wood nearest the farm, using the overspill pitches opposite the urn area if needed.

gathering wind blown and dead standing wood for your personal fire is allowed.

It would be helpful if any TBC's could be firmed up nearer the time to assess a meets viability, thanks.

I have now have a course during the week so looks like only the weekend at present, still awaiting conformation so may change again.

Still waiting for my shifts for February, but got my fingers crossed that I can manage to get out again. BTW anyone hammocking? Got a hammock for Christmas and itching to try it out, but concerned about it getting a little chilly.

I'll be hammocking but I have a system that will see me down to - 17 C minimum.

What system have you?

Sleeping bag and pad or top and underquilts?

Most of us will have some spare gear just in case.

Any questions just ask.
