Event (not Goretex) jackets - anyone got one?

All I can say is I prefer mine to goretex.

Haven't worn it for a while though only 'cos i've been using my ventiles.

Same here. I have a Montane Superfly XT jacket. The EVENT fabric has always been great - more breathable than goretex ( in my opinion!). I always wash my gear as advised by the manufacturer and have had no problems. So far ?!?!?!?!

I have a Rab eVent jacket and it has kept out gale-driven, horizontal rain and hail with no problem. I wasn't aware that I was supposed to wash it regularly - I've never washed it and it continues to work perfectly. So much so that I have just got a new bivi bag made of eVent winging its way to me as we speak...

You only need to wash them occasionally, using something like Techwash; however, it's the same for Goretex, Hyvent and any other laminate breathable fabric.

I've been looking at the Montane Sperfly this week as Tamarack are doing them for £100 at the moment. Seriously tempted it's just the red colour that's holding me back.

Well, I've succumbed to tempation and purchased a Rab Vidda (on offer at Cotswolds). A bit selling point was the colour option 'earth' - why oh why oh why oh why is all the women's outdoor kit pink or turquoise at the moment?

Several; of my students have jackets made from Event (Rab made, I think).

I'm very impressed with what I've seen of the waterproofness and breathability.
