Do you have a photo of the clove hitch attached to the drill perhaps? I don't really get how the hitch can reduce wear on the cordage.

The wear is reduced because the cord isn't under the high tension found in normal bow drill sets.

Decided to try this one out, but eventually I got an ember without using the hitch or hole through the spindle, because my cordage was too short and the spindle a tad to thin.
